Safety

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Aviator are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Gravity doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Aviator has standard 911 Assist, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Gravity doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Aviator and the Gravity have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available all-wheel drive.

Warranty

There are almost 10 times as many Lincoln dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Aviator’s warranty.

Motor Trend

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Aviator’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Gravity (275/40R22 vs. 265/50R20).

The Aviator offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Gravity; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

The Aviator’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Gravity doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

Chassis

The Lincoln Aviator may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1150 to 1250 pounds less than the Lucid Motors Gravity.

The front grille of the Aviator uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Gravity doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Aviator Reserve/Black Label uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Gravity doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Aviator has 2.1 inches more front legroom, 2.4 inches more front shoulder room, 3 inches more rear shoulder room and 4.2 inches more third row shoulder room than the Gravity.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Aviator’s middle row seats recline. The Gravity’s middle row seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

Both the Aviator and the Gravity have standard second row automatic folding seats. The Aviator’s third row seats also fold up or down at the press of a button. The Gravity doesn’t offer automatic folding third row seats.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Aviator’s liftgate can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Gravity doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Towing

The Aviator’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Gravity’s (5000 vs. 3500 pounds).

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Aviator uses the AdvanceTrac® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Gravity doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

The Aviator has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Gravity doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

If the windows are left open on the Aviator the driver can close all of them from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Gravity can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Aviator’s exterior PIN entry system. The Gravity doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Aviator has a standard rear wiper. The Gravity doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Aviator’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Gravity’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Aviator’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Gravity has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Optional air conditioned front and second row seats keep the Aviator’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Gravity doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

The Aviator has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Gravity.

The Aviator is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access too more content and better coverage than the Gravity, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Aviator offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the Gravity.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the Aviator equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The Gravity, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Lincoln Aviator empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

Model Availability

The Aviator is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Gravity doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Recommendations

The Lincoln Aviator outsold the Lucid Motors Gravity by over 22 to one during 2025.
